Question: My husband and I are moving to China for work from Australia. Our work involves traveling both within China and overseas (worldwide). Does it mean we need to get two insurance covers - one for heath and one for travel, or could we just get one that covers both? Answer: Plans that we can offer you will provide comprehensive cover anywhere in the world. This means that if you and your husband leave China and travel to a different country or return home to Australia, many of the health insurance plans that we offer will continue to provide coverage. Normally there are two geographical areas of coverage associated with an international health insurance plan these are; worldwide, and worldwide excluding North America or the USA. This means that if you have a worldwide plan that you and your husband will be able to receive treatment at any hospital in the world. If you decide to choose a plan that excludes coverage in the USA or North America you will not be able receive any elective treatment there, but will still be covered for emergencies. Many of the international health insurance plans will offer an emergency evacuation or repatriation benefit that will allow you to return to Australia to receive treatment or be evacuated to the nearest centre of medical excellence.
