Question: My uncle holds a Pakistani passport but is now living in the UK. However, he recently had an accident that will require a major surgery.
I would, therefore, like to find out what exact pre-conditions can disqualify him to apply for a health/hospitalisation insurance. Answer:
We can provide a number of
internatonal health and medical insurance plans that will offer you
comprehensive in-patient coverage. It is important to bear in mind that many
pre-existing conditions may be excluded form coverage. When looking at a
policyholder with pre-existing conditions, insurance companies will decide to
do one of three things. The first option for covering a pre-existing condition
is with a moratorium; under this option the insurance company will place a
waiting period of usually 24 months on the condition before covering it. If
during this waiting period there are no symptoms displayed, or treatment sought
for the condition, then it may be reconsidered for coverage.
The second option is coverage with
loading; in this instance the insurer may decide to cover the condition at the
expense of an increased premium. It is important to be aware that not all
pre-existing conditions can be covered by loading the plans premium. The third
coverage option is the exclusion of the condition from coverage. If the
condition is excluded then the insurer will not provide protection for that
condition or any consequences of the condition.
When dealing with pre-existing
conditions it is very important to be clear about the condition itself.
Different pre-existing conditions will have different coverage options, and
these coverage options will change between insurance companies. In order to
find a suitable plan for your uncle we will need to know exactly what his
condition entails, his age, and his geographic area of coverage.
