Can I get short term insurance in Canada

Index of Questions

Question: I am a student in Canada. I got a health insurance from Sept 1,2006 to Aug 31,2007. I want to continue to Sept 31, because I'm going to leave for China. But they said I should pay for 4-month insurance. They are staff dealing this insurance in our university. The reason is this is campus. So, how do you feel about this thing? Thanks.

Answer:

We can offer short term insurance plans no matter where you are located in the world. Short term medical insurance will usually be in the form of travel insurance, which will offer time specific coverage worldwide. Travel plans will offer you the same amount of comprehensive protection as annual plans; however, they are usually only viable for a few months and are not practical for long term medical coverage.

Short term international medical insurance plans will provide the policyholder with the same amount of coverage as an annual plan in respect to emergency evacuation and out-patient coverage. They are also much cheaper than an annual plan. As with annual international medical insurance plans, travel medical insurance premiums will normally be calculated based on the policyholders age, however, these plans will cover you world wide.
