Can I buy emergency evacuation coverage only

Index of Questions

Question: Can I buy only the emergency evacuation coverage and not the medical insurance?

Answer:

Technically it is possible to do this; however, we would advise you to purchase an evacuation plan with high deductible medical coverage. The reason for this is twofold. Firstly, an international health insurance plan with emergency evacuation and a high deductible will assure you that you will be evacuated should anything untoward happen while you are overseas. Secondly, having an international medical insurance plan means that you will be able to receive high quality treatment outside of the emergency evacuation coverage.

International medical insurance plans with a high deductible are commonly referred to as “catastrophe plans”; because the high deductible means that they are impractical for everyday use. Having a higher deductible will lessen the overall cost of the plan while giving you the same coverage benefits that everyone else has. Basically, if you purchase a high deductible plan with emergency evacuation cover, you may find that it is not feasible to use the plan for any benefit other than emergency evacuation. This means however, that you will be paying less than if the plan had a low deductible.
