Third Party Car Insurance

Third party vehicle insurance is your basic form of auto coverage that protects you in the event you cause property damage, injury, or death to a third party. Many countries may require a minimum level of insurance coverage as part of owning a vehicle and, in Hong Kong, third party insurance can help you meet local regulations.

An extension to Third Party policies can be Third Party Fire and Theft (TPFT). In addition to standard third party coverage, TPFT policies allow you to make claims for events where your car is damaged by fire, damaged by an attempted theft, or is stolen.

Third Party policies are generally quite limited to paying for the damage or loss to others rather than you and your property, and will often exclude the following from coverage:

  • Damage to your car and property

  • Personal injury and death

  • Roadside assistance during breakdowns

  • Broken windscreens due to debris/negligence

Comprehensive Car Insurance

Comprehensive car insurance plans are designed to cover you, your vehicle, and third parties if an accident occurs. Again, policies will differ on what level of coverage they provide however many will include the following:

  • Protection of your No Claims Discount (NDC)

  • Repair or replacement of damaged windscreens

  • Monetary compensation for written off vehicles

  • Vehicle towing coverage in the event of a break down

  • Life

Personal Accident Cover

If you think you will need more extensive coverage, there are personal accident cover options that include better medical coverage in general as well as roadside assistance. These policies can be purchased as a separate addition to your current policy, and you don’t even need to have an existing policy with Kwiksure to apply.
