Routine Dental Procedures

Foreign dental insurance will generally cover the cost of all routine dental procedures. Routine dental procedures generally involve cleaning, fillings and examinations. Minor surgery may also be covered by some foreign dental insurance plans. We can give you detailed advice or a quote on the best plan for you.

Routine procedures covered by your foreign dental insurance plan may include:

  • Examination: any visits to, or consultations conducted by a dentist will be covered.
  • Cleaning: the removal of stains and plaque by a qualified dentist, also known as
  • prophylaxis or a prophy.
  • Fillings: insurance companies usually only allow tooth coloured fillings on the front teeth (anterior teeth). When composites are done on the back teeth (posterior teeth) the insurance company usually pays them as an amalgam (silver filling).
  • Root Canal: this is when the nerve of the tooth is removed from the canal and replaced with a filling material.
  • Extraction: teeth may need to be extracted if decayed beyond repair. This will be covered if it is uncomplicated or necessary due to impacted wisdom teeth.
  • X-Rays: X-rays are often needed so that the dentist can see the teeth below the gum line. This is essential when performing certain procedures and can be very expensive.
  • Anaesthesia: This relieves the sensation of pain during an operation. These costs can be especially high and easily mount up if not covered by your foreign dental insurance policy.
  • Occlusion bar: This is used to prevent the chewing surfaces at the back of the mouth becoming flat due to grinding of the teeth.
  • Prescriptions: Foreign dental insurance should always cover the cost of medicines involved with your dental problem, as long as they are prescribed by your dentist.

Hi, My mom will be coming from north africa to visit me in the USA and stay for acouple of weeks. Recently she has been having a heavy hand and legs feeling. She has been prescribed a medication that is usualy prescribed for patients with mild parkinson's. I would like to get some second opinion and test(scans) performed on her in the USA. I don't think that she has parkinson's and I would like to confirn this in a center/hospital that I trust. My mom has an inssurance coverage with mutuelle Maroc, which is a partner with SwissLife and AXA. I wonder if she can get an international coverage with your company that will covers specialist evaluation, MRI, and oether scans if necessary. Thank you
